Physical Therapy at Home

Speech Therapy at Home

Our speech pathologists adopt a personalized approach to address each client’s unique needs, and are designed to diagnose and treat a wide range of speech and swallowing disorders,  language proficiency and overcome speech impediments (for example: post stroke).   • Cognitive communication treatment
    • Attention, orientation, thought organization and processing skills, short term and working memory, sequencing, following directions, visio-spatial reasoning, word finding, and abstract reasoning.
    • Some patients with early onset dementia may benefit from errorless learning techniques to help them remember to use their call button, use their walker/cane/AD, lock their walker and WC brakes, and improve ability to organize their meds with functional independence.
  • Memory care education for patients with dementia
    • This includes staging the patient’s current level of dementia to determine appropriate goals and interventions to set realistic expectations, discussing appropriate levels of care and future planning, educating on common behaviors and what to expect from the progression of the disease, providing caregivers/family members communication strategies and techniques to help the patient communicate, producing an appropriate cognitive based HEP for the patient to perform daily, help patient and family establish a routine, educating on possible causes of negative behaviors, and problem solve to decrease occurrences of negative behaviors.
